Image Takedown / DMCA

Updated

Editorial use of product imagery

ChemCX publishes normalized photographs of detailing chemical bottles alongside our chemistry analysis. We pull these images from each brand's public product page (typically the og:image the brand designates for social sharing) and normalize them — background removal, consistent crop and padding — so the products display uniformly across the site.

We rely on editorial and nominative fair use to publish these images for the purpose of reviewing and comparing the products. We make no claim of ownership over any brand's product imagery; all product names, logos, and bottle imagery remain the property of their respective owners.

Removing an image

If you represent a brand and would like us to remove a specific product image, email us and we will remove it. There is no formal DMCA notice required — a brief note is fine.

Please include:

  • The product page URL (e.g. chemcx.com/products/<brand>/<product>)
  • The image you want removed (a screenshot or the image URL is fine)
  • Your name and your relationship to the brand (employee, owner, authorized agent)
  • A statement that you are authorized to act on the brand's behalf

We typically process takedown requests within a few business days. Removing the image does not remove the product from ChemCX — only the bottle photograph. Our chemistry analysis remains.

Replacing instead of removing

If the image we're using is wrong, outdated, or unflattering and you'd rather we use a different image, send us the URL of the preferred image (or attach the file) in the same email. We're happy to swap.
